The brief

Period homes deserve joinery that respects their character while meeting modern needs. Our clients wanted a kitchen, wardrobes, panelling and vanities that would feel right for the age of the house — traditional in detail, practical in use — and resolved sensitively within rooms full of original features and the irregularities of an older building.

What we designed and made

We designed, made and installed the kitchen, wardrobes, panelling and vanities, each drawn in CAD and scribed to walls and floors that are far from square. Mouldings and proportions were detailed to suit the period, with storage planned for modern living behind a traditional face. Made in our Suffolk workshop and installed by our own team.

Materials and craftsmanship

Hand-painted finishes and traditional detailing were chosen to suit the house, on solid framing and well-built carcasses with quality ironmongery. Materials were selected for durability and a finish that ages gracefully alongside the original features.

The result

The completed joinery sits comfortably within the period home, adding generous, practical storage without compromising its character. It illustrates the sympathetic period-home joinery we deliver across Essex.
