Freestanding furniture — tables, chairs, dressers, beds, cabinets — is made on this site under the name Bryn Hall.
Fitted work and freestanding furniture are not the same craft, which is the honest reason they carry different names. Fitted joinery is scribed to a building that is never square and has to survive being fixed to a wall that moves. A freestanding piece stands on its own, gets moved, gets lived with, and has to hold up when somebody looks at the back of it. Different jointing, different tolerances, different habits of mind.
Bryn Hall makes the second kind: made to order, any size, in oak, cherry, mahogany or walnut, across ten collections running from Welsh vernacular through Georgian to Gothic. It will also copy or match an antique, which is useful when one good chair needs to become eight.
